European Bioplastics Conference: An Exhibitor’s Guide

2–3 December 2025
Titanic Hotel Berlin, Germany

The European Bioplastics Conference, run by European Bioplastics e.V., is the annual gathering for people serious about where biobased and biodegradable plastics are headed. It’s where producers, brand owners, converters, regulators, and researchers meet for two days in Berlin to compare notes on what’s actually working — what scales, what passes regulation, what holds up in the market, and what doesn’t. About 400 senior people show up, around 40 companies exhibit, and the agenda mixes policy briefings with frank technical conversations. If you’re exhibiting, the room is small enough that every conversation matters and big enough that the right ones move the needle.

About the Tradeshow

EBC has been running for over two decades and is hosted in Berlin in a hybrid format — in-person at the Titanic Hotel and online. The two days are built around the policy landscape, the European bioeconomy, market data, and the practical challenges of moving biopolymers from pilot to industrial scale. Programme sessions cover bioplastics regulation in transition, recycling and circular solutions, high-performance applications, and global market shifts.

Alongside the main conference there’s a focused exhibition (around 40 booths), an Innovation Award pitch session for emerging companies, and side events that dig into specific topics like packaging design and end-of-life. Networking is concentrated in catering and break areas, and a digital partnering tool helps people line up meetings ahead of time.

What matters to European Bioplastics Conference’s audience

Attendees want proof, not promises—credible data, policy clarity, and scalable solutions that withstand scrutiny and scale.

  • Regulatory readiness for PPWR and aligned certification paths
  • Hard performance data and LCAs tied to real applications
  • Bankable supply, pricing transparency, and delivery timelines
  • End‑of‑life pathways: recycling, composting, infrastructure compatibility
  • Partnerships that de‑risk pilot-to-scale transitions

Make it quantifiable, audit-ready, and implementable—so technical and commercial buyers can act fast.

3 ways to make every EBC conversation count

Walk the floor with intent. Walk away with next steps.
🔎

Open with the regulatory driver, not the product

Open by tagging each conversation to a regulatory driver—PPWR article, compostability standard, certification gap, or LCA requirement. Map needs to exact documentation or tests you provide. Capture consent and interest tags as you talk, so follow‑ups deliver the precise compliance path they need tomorrow morning.

📊

Show the proof, don't talk about it

Share the LCA, the certification letter, the migration test, the home-compost trial — whichever applies — directly on a phone or tablet at the booth. Save it to the lead's record so the recap email contains exactly what you showed, not a watered-down version. Buyers forward what they can hand to a colleague intact.

⏱️

Lock the next step before they walk off

A conversation without a defined next step is a conversation you'll lose to the post-conference inbox flood. Suggest a sample shipment, a technical call, a short pilot scope — whatever fits — and put a date on it before they leave the booth.

Best practices for event exhibitors at European Bioplastics Conference

🧭

Use the digital partnering tool before you arrive

EBC’s networking tool lets you pre-book meetings. People who use it land 8–12 booked conversations before the event opens; people who don’t end up working the floor cold.
💡 Pre-booked meetings flow into the same lead system as walk-up conversations, so nothing splits across spreadsheets.
📁

Build qualifying questions around real PPWR articles

“What’s your packaging?” gets you nowhere. “Are you working on Article 7 recycled content, Article 6 recyclability, or compostability scope under Article 9?” gets you a real conversation in 60 seconds.
💡 How momencio helps: Forms are fully configurable — bake the right qualifying questions into the lead-capture flow once and reuse across events.

Package proof into shareable mini dossiers

LCAs, certifications, and application sheets bundled into a single tap-to-share collection per use case. When the buyer forwards it internally, your claims travel intact.
💡 How momencio helps: Content kits are pre-built per use case and auto-attach to leads tagged accordingly.
🔐

Capture every touch — badge, card, hallway

Plenty of EBC’s most useful conversations happen at the coffee break, not at the booth. Make sure capture works whether someone scans a badge, hands you a card, or you just type in a name on the way to the venue.
💡 How momencio helps: One workflow handles badge scan, business card capture, and offline entry — with deduplication so the CRM stays clean.
🧪

Make GDPR consent invisible

At a conference where half the room is from EU regulators or works for companies they regulate, sloppy consent capture is a bad look. Make it native, language-aware, and logged with a timestamp.
💡 How momencio helps: Configurable consent screens with audit trails and language localization. No one has to stop and read fine print to opt in.
📈

Report outcomes by use case, not just volume

Leadership doesn’t care that you scanned 87 badges. They care which packaging applications, which regulatory drivers, and which buyer types you reached.
💡 How momencio helps: Dashboards segment results by use case, regulatory driver, region, and follow-up stage out of the box.

10 FAQs for exhibitors and event pros attending European Bioplastics Conference 2025

For anyone selling into the bioplastics value chain in Europe, yes. The audience is small (around 400 senior decision-makers) but extremely concentrated — brand owners, converters, regulators, and producers all in two days. It’s a depth play, not a volume play.
EBC is the policy- and value-chain-heavy one — anchored in Berlin, run by the EU industry association, and built around regulatory and commercial decisions. Other events lean more toward materials science showcases or broader sustainability conversations with less direct buyer density.
Bio-based means the polymer is made from renewable feedstock. Biodegradable means it breaks down under specific microbial conditions. Compostable is a stricter subset — it must break down within set timeframes and leave no harmful residue, certified to EN 13432 or ASTM D6400.
Neither, currently. PPWR doesn’t yet set requirements for bio-based content the way it does for recycled content. The Commission is reviewing whether bio-based plastics should count toward recycled content quotas — a decision expected by 12 February 2028.
It’s the legally binding self-declaration that confirms a specific packaging meets PPWR sustainability requirements. The manufacturer signs it — typically whoever places the packaging on the EU market under their brand — and the signatory carries personal liability for the claims.
PPWR entered into force on 11 February 2025 and applies from 12 August 2026. Substance restrictions (heavy metals, PFAS) hit first. Recycled content and recyclability requirements phase in through 2030 and 2040 as delegated acts get finalized.
Both certify compostability against EN 13432 for industrial composting, and both have home-compost variants. TÜV Austria’s OK Compost is more widely recognized internationally; DIN CERTCO is German-rooted but EU-wide. For most EU brand owners, either certification is acceptable — buyers usually accept both.
Capture explicit opt-in at the moment of contact, log lawful basis, and store an immutable audit trail tied to each lead record. Lead capture tools that bundle this natively — instead of bolting consent on after — protect exhibitors from regulatory risk and look professional doing it.
The right tool handles GDPR consent natively, captures across QR badges and business cards, works offline, and lets you attach LCAs or certification letters to specific leads without breaking flow. momencio is built for this kind of document-heavy, EU-regulated exhibitor scenario.
Within 24 hours, send a recap that mirrors the booth conversation — the exact LCA, certification, or test data the buyer saw — through a personalized link they can forward internally. Generic “great to meet you” emails get archived; context-rich ones get circulated to procurement.
